Pete on one of the other strings you asked for comment on the two bugle calls. The firing line was brought back from the its original extended position to the line of the rocky ridge. If that was done by companies it would surely have been coordinated by the bugle calls ? One of the Zulus present mentions this very definitly, think it was Uguco. He mentions it in the context of the line coalesing into two pockets of resistance ( Squares).

Springbok. I may well have done. But i'm old and I forget. How would the cease fire have been sounded. Voiced or Bugle call.

Definitly by Bugle call. Followed by voice commands for the next action. There are a few times when that could have happened. When Pope pulled out of the firing line and extended down the rocky ridge. When Pope pulled back level with H company. When H ( Either H or A sortied forward to get at the Zulus in the donger. When the line contracted into its fighting squares. On another string the question is asked why did Essex only mention it at the end of his testimony, and the others not at all. Possible reason would be, its a normal command communication that wouldnt normally be mentioned, ergo its mentioned almost in passsing. As Curling was one of the first to depart, following the guns, I would hazard a guess and say he wasnt there for the final withdrawl so the signals he heard would be Popes earlier movements.

It's just your security settings mate, it's because a player is trying to open. The files are very small so just save
