I would ask the seller for more information on what research comes with the medal, in order to satisfy yourself that he was present with Pearson's column; also, confirm the medal entitlement by enquiring as to his medal roll entry. I have looked carefully at the naming and the naming looks authentic to me and not renamed; but it is difficult to guarantee that without handling the medal. The list of medics LH posted does not include him, but that is not a deal breaker. However, i would like to see his name on a roll somewhere!?!? The price is very fair, if the research confirms his entitlement to the medal and confirms the stories that come with the medal. Medals to surgeons are very sought after by collectors, who also happen to be doctors, who also happen to be not short of a bob or two!

LH's post re the details of surgeon GMJ Giles is interesting in that the surname is the same? More questions arise.

Hi All . I think it may be a fiar price but must admit I was hoping to get it for much less when it was posted on ebay earlier , it was delisted at 350 GBP'S and relisted at 999 GBP'S , there were a couple more on here that were also showing interest so it may go for more than its listed price. I can confirm B.F. Giles is in the Forsyth Medal Roll , under Army Medical Department - Civil Surgeon . cheers 90th.
