| Bonjour Mister YOUNG,
1°) In your collectiion (photobucket) there is a photo intitled "WOOD Staff Zululand" with Wood, Beresford, Lysons and others. Many books say that the man on the chair on the right with a black beard is CREALOCK. I am not sure of this assertion: Maybe M. GOSSET (see the photo taken in December 1878 with CHELSMFORD, CREALOCK, MILNE, GOSSET and "SULLIVAN")?
2°) Photo 1866 / 24th I can see GLYN on the photo (stand / on the left). An historian says to me that there is also (paymaster) WHITE on the photo. Do you know where he is? Do you know the name of the others? On an other forum, i have read that there is BRANDER on the photo.
Thanks for the photo and for yor help. Frédéric

| Frédéric,
1: I'm more inclined to believe it is C. F. Clery myself.
2: I think - stress think - White is the man on the right seated in the white suit. Brander may be the man standing behind him.

John Y. Mister Young, Many thanks for your answer. The photo taken in Decembrer 1878 (Gosset, Milne, Chelmsford, Crealock, "Sullivan") contains often errors in books (Gosset in the place of Crealock / Not the legend of your photo) Cheers |

| Frédéric, Given what I believe there at least two members of Wood's Staff in this photograph, taken circa 1886/7. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]C. F. Clery's Brigade Staff, circa 1886/7. John Young Collection. Can you spot them? There are a few other A-Z W officers in this group as well. Sorry it is a small photograph. Regards, John Y. |

John Y. Mister YOUNG, Sorry, but i can (only) see CLERY in the middle of the photo (with 4? medals / stand) CLery in 1886-88 was chief on the staff to the Egyptian army of occupation... I am not sure to find the name of the others officers (My interest for the photos of the AZW turns essentially around Isandhlwana and Rorke's Drift) And were are the "beards" of the zulu war"????????? (LOL) Bien à vous frédéric |

| Frédéric,
You got the location right hence some Foreign Service helmets scattered around the group, plus a Bengal Lancer Queen's officer amongst them.
Les,
Well done it is indeed Lysons. To Lysons' right is C. S. Parsons, R.A., the short officer in the back row with the feather bonnet is Goff of the Argylls. There's another former 90th officer fourth in from the right, but due to the loss of clarity at that end, I can't make him out.

John, I know two photos of C.S. PARSONS during the Boers War (very good quality / Isundula and John Young collection). I haven't recognized him on this photo with CLERY!. Cheers |
