There might be a link here somewhere. The article says he fought. The only W T Openshaw I get is a Reverend:

Lt Col Edward Hyde Openshaw died and is buried in Basra 1917, WW1. He is the son of Rev W T Openshaw.

I think I have found him.

Lieutenant William Turner Openshaw, Royal Lancashire Militia, and subsequently Captain and Paymaster Natal Native Contingent. Born 15 Jan 1851, Newark, Notts, as mentioned above by Rai.

Married Anne Entwisle 13 Apr 1880, B. 12 Nov 1854, daughter of Joshua Entwisle.

Children: Maud b. 1 Mar 1881.  Winifred Nellie b. 30Apr 1887.

It seems as if he served in the Zulu war, when that ended came home and subsequently went to Canada for a few years where his children were born, and back home again. I wonder what he was doing there.
