The scan is a little poor to begin with but the article is interesting.
The original cross which is broken is now at the museum in Ulundi by the main gate along with other broken memorials. (November 2022)

I have the AZW Medal to Sapper Henry Romain 13764 2nd Co R.E. Henry is in a photo which shows Stabb and the others at the PI Memorial , unfortunately the Royal Engineers present aren't identified on the photo .

Yes Kate , had seen the posts , that was the reason I mentioned having Romain's Medal , found some of the clippings impossible
to read I basically gave up .

Yes its a shame the scans arn't too good at times.
If you endeavour with them you can just about make out what they say which is why I posted them up but it makes your eyes go squiffy after a while.
Some are so bad I don't even bother attempting to read them though it is frustrating when you can read the title but not the article.

Close-up of personnel involved.  The bearded seated figure is Commandant James Henry Bowker, formerly of the Cape Mounted Rifles.  In the Foreign Service helmet resting on a spade is Major Henry Sparke Stabb, 32nd (Cornwall) Light Infantry.  The Zulu in the foreground is Sobhuza, the local headman.

Apparently Sobhuza is the modern accepted spelling. The variations are Victorian anomalies.
