Another interesting account about Buller's raids around Hlobane. Some close shaves for some of the FLH Shocked

More details about the actions of No4 column here from the same paper.
I know this forum mainly concentrates on iSandlwana and Rorke's Drift but I do find these early reports of Wood and Buller skirmishing really interesting.
Perhaps we can learn the reason why the No3 column commanders did what they did by looking at No4 column

The posting of piquets is mentioned here and look at the way four companies of the 90th are used to advance up a hill.
Also I am very wary of Barker's iSandlwana account especially when he claims Zulus were firing from the opposite bank at 900 yards but here we have another account of the Zulus firing at 1000 yards (wether they actually hit anything is another story)
