Graves. I wonder if you can confirm if an Alfred Dobson was killed during engagement at Zholbane Mountain.

A correspondent with General Wood’s column writes:- Arthur Dobson, poor fellow, was killed on the very top of Zlobane. He happened to be right behind every body else, and one of the Frontier Light Horse rode up to him and said “for God’s sake Dobson come on, the Zulus are almost on top of you.” He looking behind, and in the coolest way possible said “that’s nothing, you go on, and I will take care of myself.” He had a splendid horse, but never attempted to hurry it on. Dobson was a plucky fellow, and a most willing workman; he always did his work willingly. He turned out to be one of the best men in his corps, and shook down to his work wonderfully. He was very much liked in the regiment.

Natal Witness 10th April 1879
Amongst those killed at the action at Hlobane on the 28th Ult. was Arthur Dobson, notorious here and in Durban some time ago as "the reckless ranger of the Southern Seas". He joined the Frontier Light Horse here.

Yes Kate I mentioned him earlier it's actually Arthur W Dobson was from Tasmania , hence the Monika ' the reckless ranger of the Southern Seas ' his letters are in Dutton .

Hi all, am I mistaken or is the information I have is incorrect ?

The Geelong Advertiser, 21 October 1879 p.3
A VICTIM OF THE ZULU WAR.
The Hobart Town Mercury of the 30th September says :—" We published a short time
ago some extracts from the letters of the late Mr Arthur Dobson, who fell in the Zulu
war. In answer to many enquiries which have since been made by his friends for
further details concerning him, we are enabled to publish the following information.
That gallant officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Buller, whose name must be familiar to all
who have followed the events of the Zulu war, has, with the kindest thoughtfulness,
written the following letter to one of Mr. Dobson's family.

Could Alfred Dobson be the brother or Father of Arthur Dobson or has the Geelong Advertiser has it wrong. I have a PDF can I post it on the forum of Arthur Dobson. If the photos is correct it was published 1903 when was the photo taken ? I am getting the impression the photo is not the Dobson who died on Hlobane.
