Did all these people actually see Durnford arrive. Or could it be they were out out doing whatever, and on returning to camp saw Durnford therefrom recording the times they saw him? Just a thought.

They all mention that Colonel Durnford/Colonel Durnfords forces/ Colonel Durnfords Column arrived at such and such a time.
I specifically mentioned the last three on the list as being from the rocket battery as their quoted times are out by at least 30 minutes, the Rocket Battery arrived after Durnford.
Im also sure that Wilson /Dillon and Williams also make mention of him arriving. So yes a hell of a lot of testimony and mostly around the 10/11 oclock period.

Springbok I beleive there was also a chap by the name of "Goff" who escaped, also a member of the rocket battery. Do you have anything on him.

Gunner (Acting-Bombardier) 2766 George Goff, 'N' Battery, 5th Brigade, Royal Artillery.

Attested 12th April 1873 aged 24 years & 7 months.

Deserted 28th July 1880.

Would have been entitled to the Medal with clasp 1877-8-9, had he not deserted.

He was one the many interviewed by Symons.

Raw, Davies, Higginson, Pvt.Williams, Pvt Dillon, Cochrane, Hans Boer, Smith- Dorrien, Curling, Barton, Vause, Stafford, Brickhill.

I think hs first name was Edward?

Pvt Wilson was incorrectly identified as Private E Dillon and his original statement was attributed that way. He was 1/24th Band Member
