Mr. Payne,
I hope you don't mind me pointing out that it is Melvill rather than Melville.

Hi 24th
As soon as I have a number of folks coming then I will know how much the hall hire will cost and then I can let you know.
The cost will be kept as low as possible as I do know that the pressures on funds is tough and both Adrian and I are doing this for nothing. As i said before whatever the cost you will not be able to better the experience anywhere, and to repeat camping here is free!

Hi David, I attended the 2010 exhibition. Will there be different exhibits on show this year, or is it basically going to be much the same as last year? Thanks

Hi Warrior3
Last year's exhibition concentrated on Zulu beadwork , necklaces, knobkerries etc ie mainly from the Zulu aspect.
The reason I started off the thread and asked what did you want to see was to get a feeling as to what you are after. A list has been put forward and it is my intention that over the weekend we will show as much as we can on the list together with other items.
Is there anything in particular that you are looking for?

David

Hi Warrior
All of the photographs we have come across have been used in books already - sorry to disappoint you on that one. Having said that Adrian and I are off to see another descendent of a surgeon in the war and there is no telling what could be there.
On previous occasions when we have been out we have been given the opportunity to rummage through old suit cases - the contents of which are not usually tidy - and in some cases family photograph albums. If we stumble on anything I have made a note of your interest and I will pm you so that you can pop down, after all you are not far from us.

Hi Warrior and 24th and others
If you want to attend on only one day for the talk on that particular day that is fine - my plan with the exhibits was to have some out at the Museum on Saturday morning and then have some more out at the talk on Saturday evening and then by request on Sunday pm.
If you pm me and let me know your wishes I will see what I can work out - yes it will be half price on each day.

Pete. There's a good chance I will be home that weekend, so if you don't mind giving me a lift I'll come along with you. Won't be able to do the Sunday though.
I did try to PM this, but it won't let me for some reason.

Hi 24th
The interest and bookings are going very well - I am not surprised as the exhibition last year we had over 800 people come in for it - there was even a couple from Dundee SA who happened to be in the country.
The problem will be with those who will be disappointed as the number is restricted to 40 - Adrian and I will determine what to do ie do we do another weekend this year or leave it till next. We are restricted a little as to when we hold it because those who wish to camp will be on one of the fields we use for hay and at the same time it is always better to hold it when we are in with a chance of decent weather.
Regards
David

The Sunday is very nearly full so if any of you who have not booked want both days you had better move quickly - I was going to keep the bookings for both days only but by request we are doing separate days - this means that as exhibits will be brought out some on Saturday and some on Sunday those doing only one day will not see them all.

Sunday has only a few left as both days are being limited to 40.
So if you want both days you had better let me know. It is only 6 weeks away.
Adrian and I are having another meet up this weekend to go through the 'wish list' and decide at what stage over the weekend do we put items out to see.

Hi Old Historian2
There is a field with or without a pond - if there are enough of you and the weather is on our side we can get a log fire going on the Saturday evening. There is an outside loo with a hot water heater.
I have increased the numbers for Sunday to 44 and as at 3.00pm on Tuesday there are only 7 places left. There are more places available for the Saturday
If you do want to use here as a base for a few days you are more than welcome.
Regards

Hi All
As you will have seen the spaces are going fast so if you do want to come you had better pm me so that I can put you on the list.
For Adrian's talk there are a number of significant artefacts that will be held back until his talk but photo opportunities will be available back at Sportsman after Sunday lunch with these items.

Hi All
The exhibition is now only 2 weeks away.
There are only two places left for Sunday - I did increase the numbers to 44 from 40 after discussions with the restaurant. There are only a few more places left for Saturday which includes Ian Knight's talk
I will be closing the list on Saturday next so that other arrangements can be firmed up ie chairs, catering etc

Hi Littlehand
Nobody has yet confirmed they are looking to camp here - that part I can deal with as it happens - as long as I know roughly when they will arrive so that I can show them where to go. Before now I have coped with over one hundred people camping here. Space is not a problem. If there are sufficient campers then I am looking to do a log fire so that they can sit around it and discuss whatever for as long as they like.

David

Just a reminder - I will be closing the list of those who wish to come on Saturday 17th to Ian Knight's talk this Saturday at midnight.
I need to do this as all sorts of arrangements have to be made.
Littlehand we will make sure it goe's well. I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully meet some members from the forum. By the way I'm told i will be camping, first time in about 30 years.. Good Night
Old H. Not sure if you know, tents today have sowed in groundsheets. On a serious note i really hope its goe's well and the weather says good. Certainly looking froward to the photo's, and hopefully some video footage.
