Looking into the life of Alphonse de Neuville and his native city of Saint Omer in France (another thread) I automatically came to the Degacher family who have their origins in the same city. Going somewhat deeper into their family tree I found that the British (later American) Actor Patrick Macnee (very well known as Steed in the Avengers and New Avengers) is related to the Degacher family. His maternal Great grandmother was Mathilde Alice Hitchcock/Degacher (1838-1916) the sister of Henry James Degacher (1835-1902) and William Degacher (1840-1879). Both these military men were his Great-granduncles. In 1980 Patrick Macnee played in the war movie "The Sea Wolves" together with David Niven. I wonder if they knew they were related.

Great-great uncle is the correct term.  The use of grand in this context is an American confection and incorrect.
