Poor chap. 90th is probably correct about this poor young man.
Doesn't sound like the typical case of PTSD, where most sufferers still sadly suffer in silence and don't take up the help offered to them or even admit they have it.
Not to say that in a very small number of instances, a small number of sufferers will respond to any kind of threat with rage and violence, threatened and actual, be it an enemy combatant, a spouse or a mate making what would be considered to be a fair and reasonable request under normal circumstances. This kind of sufferer will not distinguish between the types or seriousness of threat, or who made the threat. This is the most serious type of PTSD and can obviously lead to an innocent person - usually the missus - becoming a tragic victim of PTSD related violence.

Is it saying that this man saved Bullers life at Zolbane. If yes is there any accounts of this incident elsewhere. Might be able to establish who he might be.

PostSubject: An Incident of the zulu war    An Incident of the Zulu War EmptyThu Oct 06, 2011 6:40 am

Hi 24th .
I read it as Buller saved his life at Hlobane , its known that Buller saved several individuals on that day , but as far
as I know he never named them , I do think a couple came forward to give evidence . Found this
Col Buller saved the lives of Lt Everitt , Lt Alfred Blaine , Trpr Randal , Lt D'arcy all Frontier Light Horse , he also saved
another man but he was mortally wounded and died before reaching safety . He also rode back up the cliff and covered the withdrawl of 3 other individuals by laying down rifle fire so the 3 could make good their retreat .
Cheers 90th.
