This is a really stupid question that’s been bugging me for ages. Who counted the Zulu’s at the individual battles named below?

The Battle of Isandlwana 20,000
The Battle of Rorke's Drift 4,500
The Battle of Khambula 20,000
The Battle of Gingindlovu 11,000
The Battle of Ulundi 24,000

These are just estimations made at the time. You will often find that the numbers are always inflated as this makes better reading in the New Papers, and those in command look better. Take Isandlwana, Most of the History books state 20,000 Zulus attacked, when it was most probably 12,500.
