Stalybridge men in the 24th Empty
PostSubject: Stalybridge men in the 24th   Stalybridge men in the 24th EmptyTue Sep 24, 2024 6:48 pm

Hello all,

Found the following:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Stalybridge Reporter 18/10/1879

I believe I can account for most of those mentioned -:

(all 1/24th)
Bird, Thomas 25B/600
Lever, Thomas 1035
Meredith, Hugh 25B/828 - brother probably Meredith, John H 25B/293

But I have nothing on Hinchliffe, not on any medal roll I have and not in the Noble 24th. There could be a number of reasons, from simply being missed off the rolls (like James Cowie) to enlisting under an alias.

Anybody got any ideas.

Regards
Dash

An alias is the obvious answer, I think. Your search begins, Dash!

Julian,

Yes, I think you may be right, will go on the back burner for a while I think.
