| Finally considering getting a Blu-ray player in order to see Zulu, but have yet to be convinced the quality will be vastly different. Further, I heard rumours that they were also going to make it 3D! Would that work and where do these constant updates stop ? The Star Wars creator is being hugely criticised for continually mucking about with his films. |

| Hi Colinj. From what I've read on the RDVC Forum I dont think I'd be going out to buy the Blu - Ray machine , there werent to many glowing endorsements send in by those who had one . Makes more sense to read what they say as they HAVE / HAD bought one . I dont remember anyone on here saying they own one , and if they do it cant be that good because as I said I dont remember anyone talking it up on here !. cheers 90th. |

| 90th, that surprises me, if no-one even has the Blu-Ray player. However, if I do get that plus Zulu, I'll give a small review here, as although I obviously like the film Zulu, I'm impartial when it comes to technology, which doesn't impress me a great deal. I say, If it's not broke don't fix it ! |

| Well, I got the Blu-Ray player, but not the equivalent Zulu dvd yet. That said, I watched the dvd that I do have on it and it does okay for me, but curiosity is bothering me on any visual difference between that and the Blu-ray version. Anyway, I got a 40" Flatscreen tv too, which as you can imagine, helps with the enjoyment of Zulu. |

| I recently purchased a new laptop that came with a blu-ray player/recorder. I purchased the Zulu blu-ray edition today. I have only had time to view the first 20 minutes and can say the difference from the regular dvd version is noticeable. The image quality is sharp and crystal clear on a 42" Samsung flat screen via HDMI. If you are fond of the movie I can highly recommend it. I can only hope Zulu Dawn is given the same treatment. I own the VHS and DVD versions the image quality being poor to fair. |

| BL, is it the Arrow Films version of Zulu Dawn you own ? It is the best quality dvd of the film I've ever seen. I hoped this same company might try to get a Blu-Ray version of it, but it doesn't appear to be what they do. |

| I've finally bought Zulu on blu-ray, hopefully watching it tonight. This is the only way I can see for myself if there is any difference in quality. |

| Hi Colin
Well, did you get to watch it, and if so, what do you think about the blu-ray version?
Regards
Martin. |

| Martin, yes I watched it last night. I wondered if I'd actually see a difference, or just imagine that I did because of what I'd heard. However, I did notice better quality in the detail, which although seemed somewhat lost in the larger scenery, which is spectacular anyway, it was the finer details in the foreground I saw the most difference, as in the terrain textures, as well as the Rorke Drift buildings, mealie bags, wagons. Mainly it was in the close shots of the actors' faces, uniforms, costumes, etc., being their facial features and clothing materials. All in all I did notice a better quality and glad I obtained this blu-ray version. Whether others would agree with me, well.... |

| Hi Colin
Thanks for the reply.
So all in all you thought it was a good improvement on the original format I take it?
Have they done the same with Zulu Dawn yet, and if so, have you seen it, or heard any comments about it?
Like we have said before, it would be great if both films were remade, and maybe they could make them the right way round next time, and get them more historically accurate.
There was a suggestion in one of the threads that perhaps it would be a good idea about making a T.V series (something on the style of 'Sharpe'), with two hour episodes, to show the whole of the Zulu war, It might be a worth while idea, as there seems to be a growing interest in the Anglo-Zulu War .
Thanks again fot the reply Colin.
Regards
Martin. |

| Martin, Zulu Dawn isn't on blu-ray yet, nor do I think it will be for quite some time, if ever. The best dvd version of it was released by Arrow films a couple of years ago, but I've constantly got my eyes and ears open for any news of a Zulu Dawn updated dvd, perhaps as you say, blu-ray. |

| Colin J. My version of Zulu Dawn is from Video Treasures and was released in 1988. I too check periodically for a blu-ray. Hoping and praying some day soon.
I finally spent some time comparing the dvd and blu-ray versions of Zulu. The difference is very noticeable and I am quite happy with my purchase. |
