| Just acquired a South Africa Medal issued to Pte. William Mahoney # 127 with (1879) Clasp.
Along with the medal came a huge amount of research material about this particular recipient with one article provided from what I believe to be a book ??? On page #305 of "The Lion and The Rose" under the heading - The Kings Own Regiment / Old Comrades Association it refers to Mr. William Mahoney as being a guest from the Chelsea Hospital at the 2nd annual gathering held at the "Inns of Court Hotel" Holborn. The page has also been marked by someone as being July 1913 ??
In a separate location, page # 127, under the heading "The Kings Own Veterans" he is mentioned once again and the page also marked "April 1912"
Does anyone know or have information about this particular book ?? "THE LION AND THE ROSE" Is it dedicated solely to this regiment ??
The picture attached shows a period shot of the "Kings Own" Veterans.
Cheers z.oz
PS : Not sure if I have uploaded successfully ?? |
