| It would certainly give a better perspective of where the cairns stand to the original position of the camp, to just see how far the troops were pushed forward. |

| Excellent aerial shots are freely available on Google Earth, the cairns can be clearly seen and you could calculate the distance from the probable northernmost and easternmost tent lines.
Remember though that an aerial shot does not show you the deceptive dead ground, which is the key factor in placing the defence. Frank's photographs are much better for judging that.

| I have seen this DVD, it's not bad, and although the helicopter shots are few, they are good.
A few gripes are that the narrative only mentions the 24th regiment of foot, thus implying the regiment between the dates of 1751 and 1782, when the actual title of the regiment, after 1782 and during the AZW, was the 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment, however, there is a close up of a drawing of the glengarry badge which does show the regiments title (2nd Warwickshire regiment), but that is the only reference to the regiments real title given in this doco. The background dubbing can get a little noisy in parts, therefor drowning out the narrator, and there is also the almost obligatory but totally unnecessary 'welsh theme' that always seems to be added to these sort of doco's, and some of the information spoken in the narrative could be debated I suppose, but take out these 'gripes' and the DVD is not a bad watch.
I would suggest that you search for cheaper bargains of this DVD, there are some to be found if you google in and look, don't just buy the first one you find, some sellers are charging what they like for this, I saw one seller wanting an outrageous price for one, so be warned, search before buying. |
