It's a pity it isn't the complete film , some of it is very grainy , it's missing the Isandlwana part and another which I cant remember , I think it goes for 40 - 50 mins ? , I have it but haven't watched it in ages , I need to check my copy and see what the running time is ? . For 10 Quid I'd say it's well worth having , some of the Zulus that fought in the War are no doubt in this film ! . They will be the older one's obviously ! . 90th

Received the CD Today, the quality is far better than expected considering how old the film is. Doesn’t seem to be much on the Battle of Isandlwana, if there was I must have missed it when I blinked. There are some good clear scenes of the Battle of Rorke’s Drift, Death of the Prince Napoleon, and the Battle of Ulundi. I recorded two six minute videos on my iPhone with the volume turned down, but when I played it back, there’s a wonderful voice over of Coronation Street (Which the wife loves)
But yes well worth having in anyone’s collection. There are a few dodgy bits but the good bits out weights them.
If the smoke from the guns is anything to go by, it must have been hell in the real battles. When I get a quiet moment to myself, I will re-record, and post.

Turn the volume down to avoid coronation street!

That's not bad quality for 1918 ( I did turn the sound down) There's a very quick shot of a artillery team and cannon firing, would that have been the type of cannon used in 1879?

Thanks Admin for posting.
The smoke, if it was as bad as that, gives a new take on Isandlwana. Not sure you would be able to find your target.

Ray & Ulundi There has been much mentioned on the smoke over the life of the forum , yes it would've been difficult to see , and lets not forget the grass was quite high as well , very difficult to hit moving targets , it was also a bloody hot day , low to mid 30's with hardly a breeze is what I seem to remember reading over the years , all in all a bloody difficult day for the Rifle armed troops . 90th

Smoke from Black Powder rifles was a big problem in the 19th and earlier centuries. Not only for soldiers in major battles, but for big game hunters with the mighty big bore Double rifles they used. You often read of them firing at an enraged bull elephant only to lose sight of it in the smoke. Then to see it come charging thru' it at them. By the same token it sometimes gave cover to enable a quick escape from your protagonist !! I have had a lot of experince in shooting with it and believe me, it is thick and stinks like hell.
