Well.....having read, wargamed and studied (albeit at an amateur level) the Zulu War for close to 40 years, I never knew that the Zulu shield had a 'handle' on the rear....

I was just about to go all OCD about the model  above...but I decided to check up to save myself looking an ass, so I checked up on the internet and they had 'thumb rings'.......I always though they were just held by the stick....everyday is a school day......

I don't recall every having seen the rear of one in real life before, they have always been stuck to wall.

I have been too bothered painting the regimental patterning on the front face.....
