RTÉ the Irish broadcaster featured the Defence of Rorke’s Drift in their Nationwide programme please see
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I can only conclude that despite it only airing this week that it was filmed some time ago, as it features the late Ken Gillings.

If the piece does not play it may be necessary to download RTÉ’s international app.

I remember the Iranian embassy siege very well indeed! i was watching snooker
with the missus or a john wayne movie, when this was interrupted and we
started to get news footage of an ongoing incident, young men dressed like ordinary
guy's in jean's, tracky top's and trainer's....... ' wearing balaclava's ' moving around
outside the embassy.. SAS were on the plot!, watching the event's unfold over the
next few day's was mind blowing.. and when it was all over and the hostage's were
safe, well, i could not have been more proud of our special force's... give Bob a gaff.
