Letter home from Eshowe

In Frank Emery's 'The Red Soldier' (p187) a reference is given for Tom Cullern's letter home to his father, the Postmaster in Monmouth, as the South Wales Daily Telegram on 17/03/1879. Cannot find it and so I wondered if anyone else has encountered this problem and solved it please? By the way, the paper paper is also quoted by Spiers-but no record in any archive, weird...

Thank you very much for your time and trouble, I have tried all of the available alternatives (even name-changes) but had no luck. I have still got an enquiry running and if I get a result I will post it on the site. Thank you once again.
