John Thomson. A hero brought before the Baaa

John was brought up for stealing a sheep. No regiment given but shouldn't be to difficult to find out.
This is a brief extract from his trial:-

"....family. He had been in the army for fully six years, and was now in the Reserve, with a pension of 6d a day; but on account of this charge he would forfeit that pension. During the period he was in the army he was almost continuously engaged in active service. He took part in the Zulu war, in the Egyptian campaign, was Tel-el-Kebir, and was a member of the company of soldiers who went up the Nile to rescue General Gordon at Khartoum."
