"Funeral of an Old Soldier. On Tuesday all that was mortal of Mr Thomas Moss, greengrocer, Walton Road, was consigned to its final resting place int he cemetery. Deceased who died of consumption, had been a third class staff sergeant in the Army Service Corp. He served in the Zulu War for which he recieved a medal and clasp, and also in the Egyptian Campaign. Deceased is said to have been a mst exemplary character, and his parents are well known and much respected amongst the Weslyan Methodists. There was a large gathering at the internment at which the Rev J Falvus officiated"

Thomas Moss ASC Supply No.1215 attested 5 Jan 1875 age 18 born circa 1856/57, to S Africa 25 Feb 1879 to 20 Sept 79, sick at Netley 20 Sept 1879, Married Harriett Butler 18 Oct 1878 in Dublin stationed at the Curragh, from his Probate, Died 16 Oct 1890, of Albert Cottages, Walton Road, East Molesey Surrey.
