Hi All,
Joseph Woodham attested 11 March 1878, age 19 born 1859 his papers say birthplace Reading but actually he was born in Hinton Parva, Highworth, Wiltshire according to the 1861 and 1871 census.
To Royal Engineers to S Africa 27 Feb 1879, arriving Durban, Natal 5 April 1879 he spent 10 days in Hospital in Durban starting 11 April 1879, Zulu War, to UK 27 Jan 1880, 1881 census South Camp, Aldershot, Married Ellen Lawrence 17 June 1882 at Reading, discharged 19 March 1890 at Chatham, 12 yrs. 1901 census St Giles Reading, m. Ellen 2 children, he is a Biscuit tin cleaner, 1911 census Reading m. Ellen, he is a Labourer, He was buried at London Road Cemetery Reading on 20 Sept 1913 age 55.
