John Watson attested 15 Sept 1876 at Aldershot, age 16 born 26 Feb 1860 Old Brompton Chatham, to RE No.13747 as Trumpeter 16 Sept 1876, L/Corp 24 Dec 1878, to Cape 27 Feb to 27 Jan 80, served Zulu, Egypt 82 Kassassin, 1885 Tofek, Suakin, Specially Commended by HRH the Commander in Chief for Conduct in the Egypt War, LSGC medal, M.Mary Mabel Bingham 4 April 1893, at Parish Church Cheriton Kent. 4 Children born Curragh Ireland 1894, Aldershot 1896, Shorncliffe Kent 1899 and 1904. Discharged 1898 22yrs. 1891 census Shorncliff Camp Kent He is Barrack Warden, with Family, 1911 census Infantry Barracks Broyle Rd, Chichester He is Army Pensioner Military Clerk, with Family, 1921 census Chichester, Mary Mabel Dies 23 Aug 1923 age 52 at the Royal West Hostipal Chichester. Her address is 1 Babington Villa's Broadway Summersdale nr Chichester. In 1939 he is living at his son in law house 17 New Park Rd Chichester, a widow now, and Retired Soldier. He Dies 25 Feb 1947 at 17 New Park Road Chichester, age 88.
