I see on different photographs that graves of fallen British Soldiers in far away places sometimes are in a poor condition.
Are these graves not part of the Commenwealth War Graves Commission? Here in Flanders and no doubt elsewhere in Europe all the
graves are very well maintained by an excellent team of gardeners and stonemasons.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission are responsible for the war dead from the two World Wars. So other military conflicts are outside of their remit, I believe.

At the time of the Centenary of the Anglo-Boer War, much work was done by CWGC (South Africa) to tidy up some of the memorial sites from 1899-1902 period. Sadly, they not able to replace many of the metal grave crosses which had been stolen over many years.
