| A photo taken during the battle was found at a S.Africa auction house when an album of photos entitled ' Photo's from the first Boer War ' was sent up for sale. Photographic expert ' Olaf Priol ' said he is 99% sure the photo is authentic. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Greetings everybody, I would like to know if a high resolution photograph can be posted. Which auction sold this and where is it currently, I live in South Africa, maybe I can trace it. I recon the photograph was taken by Chelmsfords forward column sometime after 16:30hours. If you notice to the left there is some smoke as well as some scattered areas around the camp. It seems to me that Durnfords men to the left still held the position to the left even as late as 16:30hours, as well as a few pockets of men in groups of three of four holding of. What of the men of Younghusbands group that held the mountain? They must have charged down to their doom some time before the photograph was taken. What of the lone soldier of Younghusbands group the held out alone long after everyone had died?
THIS IS IMPORTANT EVIDENCE! NB THERE MUST BE MORE PHOTOGRAPHS THAT EXIST OF THE BATTLE. |

| coert1. Welcome to the forum. In the UK on the 1st of April we have what is known as April fools day, where we play practical jokes on each other. SirDCC came up with this little gem. Look at the date he posted the photo. |
