| hi joe. I have conflicting reports regarding this photo , some sources say it was taken fairly soon after the batle , and others it was taken well after the battle at Pinetown after the war ?, After many of the defenders had already moved on , so I dont know which way to lean . Great that you have been able to identify some of the Individuals , hopefully someone can add to the list . . cheers 90th. |

| hi joe. I have one more for you , courtesy of Kris Wheatley's Legacy Series. Where you have identified Edwards , directly beneath the " Ed " in Edwards , there is a chap with his forehead obscured , this man is James Marshall. I thought I had seen this photo before with many of the chaps named , it may have been on this forum somewhere. I may be wrong but is it Chard front row bottom right with beard and dog ?. cheers 90th. |

| hi joe . The more I look to clarify those in the photo the more I remember this frustrating exercise happening before :lol!:. I have found a photo in " John Williams , VC . A Biography by W.G. Lloyd. In between Bromhead and Gallagher is Corp Alfred Saxby. Now they get harder " J. Williams " name is across the chest of Corp. William Allen V.C. And it gets even more difficult !!. In between Windridge and the last man on the right with beard and dog ( Chard ? ) is according to my book Pvt Robert Jones ! . And where you have Jobbins my book says its Pvt Frederick Hitch VC. And last but not least the man lying down directly above the dog , in my book is listed as Pvt . John Jobbins . Hope this makes sense . cheers 90th.
ps . I dont like these photos to BLOODY frustrating . :lol!: :lol!: . |
