| Have been after one of these for a while now. Very pleased with it and the fact it got to me in one piece as the base is ceramic. Come's in two parts. The main diorama and the add on Hospital. Hope you like it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| Hi Joe, i've never really thought of doing a 28mm. Just seem's a bit small and hard when it come's to painting. However, I was also looking at the buildings you posted today (spooky). Here are a couple on E-bay.

| hi david68, The building is scale 1/32 (54mm) and youre best and cheapest bet to get one is in ebay. However if you order it directly from Britains you are likley to pay in the region of 200.00 to 250.00 pounds for it, which honestly I dont think is worth it.
If you are thinking of making a 28mm (1/72) scale diorama or Rorkes Drift have a go at making youre own building. I did and suprisingly it came out pretty good, I'll post a couple of photos of it.
I have also made a 1/32 scale Rorkes Drift diorama, completley from scratch. I'll also post some images of that to help you. The bigger scale is harder to make as you can include alot more detail. Or you can find pictures on the 'Models' section on this forum.
hope this helps, I'll post some pictures when I have time (either tonight or the morning)
thanks joe |

| hi David68 heres the pictures I said I would post. This is the 1/72 scale building. The 1/32 hasnt got much detail and probably wouldnt have helped. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The building is made of a light polystyrene filled card stuff. (got it from hobbycraft) and glued together, covered in pollyfilla/plaster. The roof is just model grass or hay attached to small peices of cardboard. hope this helps, any questions just send a message or drop an email. thanks joe [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| hi I dont know exactly but I think it would be a pretty big peice. I found out ordering directly from W Britain, it will cost 206.00. Ive included a picture of the building with some figures around it to try and show it against something. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]the figures are 1/32 or 54mm Looks pretty big to me, still worth it though! hope this helps thanks joe |

| Thanks Joe, wow, thats a big piece. I would rather go with that but due to space I may go for the smaller 28mm scale one. Will have to have a good think. Thanks again for the info. |

| hi david68, If you are doing a Rorkes Drift diorama it would be good in either 1/72 (25mm) or 1/32 (54mm) but again its down to the space you have.
However a isandlwana diorama is far better in 1/72 since you can get alot more landscape features on and far more figures. But it is a bit harder to paint the figures.
It is really just up to you whether you have the space to do it or down to it all which you prefer to do.
thanks joe |

| Joe. Is your wife (I assume your married) ok with these dioramas? The reason I ask is because anything i have to do with the Zulu war is banished to the loft. Of course it would be nice if she shared the same interest as me. But I’m one of the un-lucky ones. She said I’m no better that a train spotter. Actually I was thinking about inviting all the members on the forum around for Sunday dinner. Just to see her face. !!!!!!!! :lol!: |

| Hi Dave, Im not married, but I have to keep all my Zulu War 'Stuff' as its refered to, in a rather small room upstairs. Which is not near enough room for all the things I have. There is only enough room to have one diorama up at a time and (unfortunatley) the others have to stand against the wall on their side. But sometimes having a place to go (alone) is a good thing.

| Dave, i'm also married, my wife is very understanding (tolerant) and just smiles at my interest in the Zulu Wars. Next time your wife has a moan, just tell her that you could be a drunk or take drugs and at least she knows where you are when your in your den. I've just build a small office for my toys in the garage. I can lock it all up and i'm out of my wife's way in there. Here's a couple of pic's. thats brilliant, a place to go alone! I love some of the items that you have especially the Martini Henry, which looks in great condition, and the Zulu shield. A very nice room you have there.

| Thanks Joe, the Martini Henry was brought from Neil Aspinshaw (a member here) what he doesn't know about Martini's is not worth knowing.
