Huascar had no part in the Zulu War. She was a Peruvian ironclad, built for Peru in England. She was taken by rebels in the Peruvian Civil War in 1877. As well as attacking Peruvian shipping, she also disrupted commercial shipping, including British ships. HMS Shah and HMS Amethyst engaged the Huascar in May, 1877, but were unable to take her. She was later taken back by the Peruvian Navy.
