"The battlefield guide recounts how two soldiers found themselves cut off by Zulu spearmen on the ridge. One put his rifle barrel in his mouth and pulled the trigger. The other, an 18-year-old, galloped over a 70- ft cliff, fell into bushes and survived. So did his horse, but it died within 24 hours.

I recall reading G mossop's account where he mentions a solider putting the rifle barrel in his mouth and pulling the trigger.

But don't recall the 18 year old incident.Or was the 18 year old Mossop himself beacause his horse died shothly after arriving back at camp.

Thats it from me Good-Nite

hi all.

that article is about G. MOSSOP, he tells this story in his book " RUNNING THE GAUNTLET". this narrative is his account of his escape down the DEVILS PASS at HLOBANE.

Cheers 90th.
