| "William Whitelocke LLoyd was born at Strancally Castle and as an army officer saw active service in the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879. He was also an artist of considerable talent and became the official artist for the P&O and Union Castle Lines. Most of the watercolours and sketches he made during the Anglo-Zulu War were discovered in an album in January 2000" [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Hi John Touch more info for you. The folder is in the posesion of the family. It was loaned to David Rattray who documented the paintings and published them. He journeyed through the areas painted/sketched and took modern photos, a sort of then and now book. Its a fantastic book and a great tribute to its late author. I paid 140GBP for mine and its worth every penny.
Regards |

| Hi 90th. Yes, 'The Noble 24th' is a bargain priced book, I bought one myself, however, Julian Whybra has said that Norman Holmes was very unreliable with some of his information. When I checked on some of the information given in the book, I found that Holmes got many things wrong, especially about where the men were born or came from. I also have Holmes other work 'The Silver Wreath', this also is another example of Holmes unreliable findings regarding the men of the 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment. So, although they are both well sought after books (especially Silver Wreath), I don't think that they can be relied upon as being 'gospel', as some of the information about where the men came from is not all that accurate. |

I have mine in hand now because of you and I really appreciate it. Unfortunately I could not get hold of the Harford book though I covet it even more...the airmail postage was just too much on such a large book.. It's odd. Sometimes I get book from the UK at very reasonable postage rates...and others they are just exorbitant. Is there a surface rate or something that people use? |

| Hi 6pr . Glad you like it and that I could help , I sometimes get books sent by surface mail out here to Australia they can take up to 12 weeks to arrive but the postage is certainly cheaper , so I assume you would be able to do it as well . Cheers 90th. |
