Many thanks for filtering out the subsequent "discussion" to a seperate topic. It keeps this topic as per the title.

| Hi Littlehand
Substantially, yes.
We don't have the resources to keep things as well documented and updated as we would wish.

| Thanks Bill. Are copies available for purchase. Or is it a case of coming to the museum to view documents. |

Regrettably the latter. Many of these documents are originals and would suffer from being photocopied.

| They could be photographed and then photo copied.would be quite a good income for the museum. Those copies would sell by the thousands. |

| Hi John
Excellent idea - when can I expect you in Brecon to do the job ?
I honestly doubt they would sell "by the thousand" !!!!

| I bet they would. and not just that photos of some of the items in the museum would sell. How do I know. Because I would buy some.. Stamped on the back, they photos come from the museum. I deal for any collector. I would give it some serious consideration. I think John's has a good idea. |

| Hi Bill / All. Me to Bill ! . Perhaps Postcard Size Photographs of certain Articles from the zulu war room , or possibly larger prints . As 24th Suggested '' Stamped '' on the back that they were from the museum would be good , surely you have these items for sale anyhow , show me a museum that doesnt sell postcards ! , but perhaps , not the items from the Zulu War Room . As an example , a pic or photo of the Anstey exhibit would be an ideal place to start , if the pics were done well I'd be certainly interested as no doubt others on here would be as well ! . I think it's a damn good idea , it may mean you may have to work longer hours ( )and initially an extra expense which I think would pay for itself in the long run , would be interesting to see what our other members think of this idea . Cheers 90th. |

| For those of us who keep material on certain individuals, I would be a great idea. There are many who can't get to the museum, to have copies of their accounts or there personal effects who be wonderful. I would be interested for sure. |

I agree that this is a good idea, but I have to look at the practicalities. I have VERY limited resources in Brecon (unlike some Regimental Museums). Before I commit any of those resources I have to be convinced there would be an adequate return. The "hard-core" interest in the AZW is very small indeed. The sale of items frequently do not reach two figures, let alone hundreds or thousands ! Recently, with only a very few exceptions, sales of AZW items have been very poor. I am therefore not convinved that this idea is economically viable. As an example - how many members does this site have ? And how many of those bought Julian's recent booklet ? Regretably, not very many at all.
And of course the Regimental Museum does not just deal just with the AZW !
On the positive side, I have spent most of the Xmas holidays re-organising the AZW room in the Museum, and this should be completed by the beginning of February. I will post pictures of the new-look room as soon as it's finished.
Happy New Year

Bill Hi Bill, I would gladly volunteer my services for a couple of days next time I'm down that way and no need to pay me the Queen's shilling. I could even get the wife to chip in and we could stay in Brecon. If you wanted your original documents typed up (a bit rusty now) she can do about 60 words per minunte and once in the flow 80. cheers Richie |

Thank you for your kind offer which I would be pleased to accept. Give me a ring when you've sorted out likely dates.
However, I still have serious doubts aboutthe likely quantities that would sell !!!

| Bill There are a lot of interesting documents there. If they could be photographed and comp stored for e mail it would be even better, and possibly a back up storage for the museum. I would be more than prepared to contribute to the museum funds to assist.

Again, I appreciate the offer.
What I need is someone with the spare time to sit down in Brecon and organise all of this. I will have a look again at it later in the Spring.

| Could even make up packs on a individual. Take Bromhead for instance. Put a pack together relating to him, and sell as one item.
It doesn't have to been in quick time, I would be happy to wait a few weeks once the order has been placed and paid for... |

But Julian's booklet, is for a selective audience, What is being spoken about, is a much wider audience. Springbok and 90th being a good exsample as they live on the other side of the world. Who knows Bill, if you put your mind to it, you might just get that display cabinet you've been wanting. |
