| Hi All, Apologies for being A.W.O.L. that nasty four letter word keeps getting in the way, no not the wife.......work. Anyway with limited free time available I have managed to convert and complete this sublime little sculpt I have titled.... "Dear Mother, Just crossed the Buffalo river on the way to Isandlwana" I hope this emotes the same feeling in you as it did me. Although younger in age this is my depiction of those brave lads that stood and died on the battle field of Isandlwana. The original piece in 1/16 scale was sculpted and cast by the very talented Steve Ledley and was a Boer War drummer boy Colenso 1900, as soon I saw this piece I knew exactly what I was going to do. It was a straight forward convertion from the original, I removed the helmet, epaulette, cuff, rear tunic and breast pocket detail. I then lengthened the trousers and added the gaitors. I did cut off the right foot and turn this out slightly to follow the line of the leg better. I resculpted the cuff detail, reshaped the helmet and added the epaulette numbers. Put down the groundwork and painted the figure I have added a number of photo's of the original, W.I.P. and completed figure. cheers Richie [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
