| Springbok,
The hill and the cairns speak for themselves but is that a donga and, if so, which one? - 6pdr |

| 6pd Yep the Donga from Hell, and believe it this not the biggest one. This one is about 2 kilometres from the ridge separating the plain from the Mangeni Gorge. There are a couple like it, and these are typical of the dongas crossed by the column on the way to meet up with Dartnel. 90th Les Bet you can guess what the graphic is the cover to?
Cheers |

Yeah, it would have been fun to drag ammunition wagons across that... - Quote :

| Rap album it is. I will dig out a photo of a donga about the same size with my car standing in it to give you a bit of perspective. Last week walking around the back of the mountain down towards the Manzimyama we got into a small donga, by the time we got to the bottom it was a crevasse around 7 to 8 metres deep. Cheers |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This is possibly the first Donga that Durnford sheltered in at the bottom of the Quabe valley. Its pretty damned deep and wide. Cheers |
