John Y. Cher Mister Young, bonsoir, Happy to read you again with a photo of your private collection. I know this ( great )photo of Frederick GODWIN-AUSTEN (Rorke's Drfit forum?) I do like it, indeed. It seems to me that this photo was taken when F.G.A was a member of the 2/West India regiment. FGA had been a member of the 2/west india regiment prior to transfering to the 2/24th the 24/11/1877. He exchanged with Lt Charles Gordon GREYK (source:website "Soldiers of the Queen"). There is a CDV photo of GREYK in this website. We can also see GREYK on two well know photos of a group of officers of the 2/24th, with his friend Pope of the same company G (at Isandhlwana) the other man of the battalion with a monocle, Pulleine, Bannister, Youghusband, Penn Symons...(Circa 1871 India from memory) I only know two "portrait" photos of FGA/ This one, the other in Shad and Shalbot. I know the engraving in "they fell likes stones" by....John Young. It seems to me that Isundula has an another photo of him. Mister Young, thanks for all. Amitiés. Frédéric |

| Bonsoir, It seems to me that the two photos of F. GODWIN AUSTEN (Isundula and John Young collection) were taken the same day. We can see on the two photos, as Mister Young says, the cord to his monocle. Great and Very interesting photos. Congretulations to Isundula and Mister Young. Amitiés.
