| The poster is headed 'His Majesty's Army' - therefore King Edward VII - so 1902 and then in 1905 the 24th's original grass green facings (cuffs and collars on the tunic) were restored - the date range for the poster is 1902-1905

| Hi Les.
Well, it's after the 1st of July 1881, just look at the shoulder title, that is not a 24, it looks more like the SWB title that was worn after the old regiment lost both its line number and its old name, and also the cuff shape and facing colours are not those of the old 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment (grass green), they are the later ones that came after the reforms of 1881. He is depicted wearing a home service helmet and also the MH rifle appears to be a MK4, so it is not AZW. So although the SWB part might be right, the line number '24th' certainly is not, as these officially ended in 1881, and the SWB were never the 24th, they were just the SWB, as denoted by the shoulder title. |

| Hi Les. Yes, I know that some of these bounders do it to get a reaction, and I do take it all in good humour, they seem to know that I can't resist putting things right about the old 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment. If I see something that I know is wrong, I just can't resist correcting it, and some of them on here know that, and that's why they do it, the absolute stinkers I am going to have to start ignoring them aren't I Ha ha, yes, 'camping' I wonder where that phrase came from, I know it's a very old saying in these parts. Catch you later mate. |
