Hi Les. Yes buddy I saw it, and at least they got that right, however, they got it wrong in the main wording, it just says 24th regiment of foot, but that title only existed from 1751-1782, it should say 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment of foot, as that was the title of the regiment from 1782-1881. But never mind, let's just be grateful that at least it didn't mention the swb (unlike some other headstones I have seen photo's of). The chaplain that did the service was the chaplain of the RW, ie, the modern day descendant regiment of the old 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment of foot (David's regiment), so it would seem that the modern day regiment accept that David was indeed a defender at RD, otherwise why would he officiate at David's rededication. Cheers mate

CTSG. Yes, you are correct ,,,,,,, that at the time of David's death the regiment was called the swb, however, his headstone is to commemorate his part in the defence of RD, and at that time the regiment was called the 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment. Now do come along that man, get it right.

Hi Les. I suppose it all depends on which side of the bed some folk get out of. Some appear to get out of it the wrong side day in day out, whilst others get out the right side but end up getting miffed at what happens during the day, but still, those that get out on the right side at least know that it's not them that have got up in a mood. "Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone". 'Life's a beach' (or have I misspelt the last word) Cheers mate.
