| Hi All, This is why I have been a little bit quiet of late. I started this whilst on bereavement leave in January and though I have not been productive for the last couple of months, this is my latest model making epic. The photo's actually give a false sense of space and believe me it is very tightly packed on a base approx. 12" * 9" with 21 figures in 120mm scale. All the figures except one Zulu have been converted/scratched and all the Zulu's have been made from one Zulu pose. All the groundwork, mealie bags and wall have been scratch built. This is going to take many, many months to complete so I have not put a time scale on it. This is dedicated to all the brave Zulu Warriors, defenders of the mission station who fell in battle and to my Dad who fell in battle against his fight against cancer. It was he who first took me to see Zulu at the flicks when I was a sprog. Hope you all enjoy and Joe I hope you are looking down too. "Alright then" before it starts, it's not up for sale, auction or donation. cheers Richie [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Hi Richie. So sorry about your very sad loss pal, it is hard work losing a member of the family, and can take a while to adjust to life without them, but keep your chin up mate, others are thinking of you. And yes, no doubt Joe would have been very proud of the work you are doing Richie, he was also a sad loss to the forum, like yours, his work was also always top notch. As always Richie, this will be splendid when it's finished, you have a great gift my friend. Keep up the good work and all the best mate. Martin. |

| Hi Ray, John, C.T.S.G., Pete, Springy, 90th, Martin and Joe(where ever you are mate, I hope your looking in ) Thank you all very much for your most gracious comments, I'm sure Joe would have loved this too. It has been a labour of love but a worth while one and Pete I'm glad to be popping back in again. I've had some motivation to help spur me on whilst building this, I have been listening to David Rattray's excellent The Day Of The Dead Moon, with the occasional viewing of Zulu and Zulu Dawn. As I said it will be a long project and when I've made some significant progress I will update, I will be dropping other small project in from time to time. cheers Richie |

Any further progress?
Also, where are the models from? Are they custom made, bought, converted?
Cheers Neil

Cheers Neil Hi Neil, Thank you. I will update in about three weeks, I have been doing a few other projects in between (so I'm running behind a bit), one of which I will post on here later. Everything has been converted or heavily scratch built, with the exception one stock figure in it's original pose that has not been altered at all, that is one of the Zulu's. I think I will put a post up later in the week of Zulu war models figures that you can buy and where from, as I have been asked a few times. cheers Richie |

| Hi All, After a 14 month time period, my diorama "Pinned Like Rats" the defence of Rorke's Drift is finally finished. It has been a real labour of love and I was honoured to pick up a bronze at our club show amongst some very talented modellers and outstanding models. cheers Richie [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Hello Ritchie,
I'm Peter, new to the board, I love your work it is really terrific. As a visitor to Rorkes Drift on two occasions it really brings it all back to life to see the finished product in a well made model. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Nitro450. |

| Hi Peter, Nice to meet you and welcome. Thank you for your very nice comments. I need to decided now what my next builds are going be, but it won't be anything on this scale for a while. I have other stuff in the modelling section if you want to go and have a look. cheers Richie |
