| I've just found out. A very sad day indeed. It seems like another of the 'old guard' as I call them has gone. Very sad. RIP Ron. |

I enjoyed many a chat with him and am just looking at a couple of photos on my desk of 'Devil Pass' that he sent me a good few years ago.

| Hi All, An officer and gentleman. RIP Ron, my friend. You will be remembered for a fine crisp writing style, and telling the story as it was and not following the popular line. Refeshing it was to read your work. Comisserations and condolences to Brenda in Port Edward and the Lock family. The AZW community have indeed lost an mfundisi
regards

| In doing some research last evening on letters written from Helpmakaar, along with Frederic, I reached for my general go to book for all things reported at the time, 'The Red Book'. To my mind this publication eclipses anything that Ron was involved in, Zulu Victory, Zulu Vanquished, Frontiersman and even TMFH. If anything is going to stand in his memory I feel it will be this book. Peter Q I'm so sorry for the loss of your writing companion and friend of many years. |

| From my side, I can only say that all these messages would have been well received by Ron, had he still been with us. However, I find much consolation for myself from them all. Not sure if this is the correct place tp mention this, but Ron was busy with two articles at the time of his passing. Both of which met with favourable responses but unfortunately, I only got the e-mail confirmations the day after he passed. I shall be finalising the articles as a tribute to a great man whom I shall miss very much. Amazing how close one becomes merely from having been his "Computer Chap". For those who wish to contact me on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], please feel free to do so. |
