PostSubject: The Marini Henry Carbine   The Marini Henry Carbine EmptyWed Jul 18, 2018 9:53 pm

Hello,
As a painter and modeller I would be grateful to learn if the Martini Henry Carbine could be stacked in a pyramid, while the soldiers it had been issued to went about other tasks.
You may be interested to know that The Peoples Story Museum in Edinburgh currently has an exhibition on the life of Alexander Henry till the 9th of Sept. 2018. Sadly on the day of my visit all weapons had been removed from display for an unforeseen reason(?)
Yours,
Blackbob

Hi

I don't see a reason why they could not be 'piled' when working etc.

The Piling Arms was part of the drill in WW1 and it was certainly done prior to the Zulu War.....I'm not sure though if them being carbines would matter, but I don't see why, it should.

Cheers

The clearing rod on the carbine doesnt really allow it to be piled by troops carrying it for that purpose - although not sure why they would need to anyway - cavalry would carry them in buckets and would only draw them when they were going to use them so doubt they would pile them and artillery had 2 per gun attached to the limber so again rare to get the chance to pile arms - and they too would struggle with the clearing rod on the Mark 1 M/H carbines. They would be more successful with the Snider artillery carbine - did you have a specific unit in mind at all?
