Colonel Richard Glyn gravesite Empty
PostSubject: Colonel Richard Glyn gravesite   Colonel Richard Glyn gravesite EmptyTue Jul 24, 2018 7:26 pm

I'm sure this may have been listed on the site however whilst reading Rattray's guidebook to the AZ battlefields it mentioned that Glyn is buried in Ewell however despite a google search and a flying visit to a (the?) Glyn's family cemetery in Ewell and a chat with the local historian I can find no factual evidence that he was buried in Ewell.

St Mary's is where a Glyn family has their cemetery going back to 17th century to present day, there is also a Glyn school in Epsom

Findagrave website couldn't produce a result either. Perhaps he is a lesser known member of the family.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Thanks 1879...is that in St Mary’s Ewell? I was directed to a wall full of plaques which I couldn’t see him on. Not sure how I missed this gravestone!

Hi Younghusband

Yes it is St Mary's Ewell. He is on the bottom plinth of the Cross.

Salute

I’ve laid a wreath many times over recent years at St.Marys Ewell on behalf of my regiment but never knew Glyn was buried there. Just round the corner so I will have a look when I get a moment.

Hi Younghusband
The grave is adjacent to the old tower in the Churchyard not the Church itself. I was there a couple of months ago and it is badly covered in ivy etc but still easily recognisable. Like you I couldn't find a plaque inside which mentions him. However, if you google 'the Glyns of Ewell' there is a wealth of material about the family collected by local historians.
