"Major General Brownrigg served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the 3rd Division, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, and Turkish Medal). Served in the Zulu war in 1879 (Medal with Clasp). Also served in the Boer war in 1881 in charge of the Commissariat and Transport (mentioned in despatches)"

Depy - Commy Gen H.Brownrigg proceeded to Helpmakaar in Jan 79 , in Commissariat and Transport charge on the N.E.Frontier and was engaged in replacing losses and restoring organization after the disaster at Isandlwana and subsequent panic in Natal . Was Commy - Gen of Newdigate's Divis , and eventually took charge of the Nth Depots and lines of communication of the Nthn Columns . Returned to P'marizburg in Nov , on account of Ill health , eventually relieved D.C.G Morris of the S.A. charge.
