Greetings one and all, have a fantastic Xmas and New year. A few words from Trooper Symons to finish of the year
One day... we halted on an eminence covered with soft green grass and as I lay there our Captain ( Shepstone) came up to me and said: " Well Symonds wouldnt you like to see this slope covered with dead Zulu?", I replied"No Sir I wouldnt", "why not" said he. "Because we have no quarrel with the Zulus and I consider this war an unjust one." He turned and walked away without a word.
