Rebutting Lock and Quantril's Theory About Colonel Durnford

I was surprised to read Ron Lock and Peter Quantril's claim in Zulu Victory that Durnford decided to die on purpose at Isandlwana and that the men who rallied to him died needlessly. I wrote a rebuttal to this argument which can be found here:

Thank you for your reasoned rebuttal. You could have added that Durnford did not command the Natal Mounted Police in 1873. The NMP was founded in 1874 under Major (later Major-General Sir John) Dartnell.

Most of the mounted Colonials (NMP, Natal Carbineers, Newcastle Mounted Rifles, Buffalo Border Guard) who survived the battle were out on patrol with Dartnell in search of the Zulu army (161). Of the 86 who remained in the camp, 28 escaped and 58 were killed. Figures of the number who took part in Durnford's 'last stand' vary, but it is certain that the majority of the 58 were there.

Well to answer your first part, i think i could. write an article that is. Very Happy

i did not intend
to disrespect the author in any way.. but when i read your comment my first thought was
that you had completely missed my point, and i must add not for the first time!. i was
certainly not disrespecting the author.. do you even know what i intended by my comment?.
....its an old blog..nothing new!..though in general i'm all for recycling..

Why the head shaking? i explained my self.. i thought
the article was ordinary, with nothing new to say, but
i totally agree with the guys right to say anything..free
speech right?.
