| Hi All, Arthur Thomas Nixon born 1898 Wellingboro. so not Zulu War. Henry Edward Nixon enlisted 8 march 1876 born 1858 Wellingborough, to 29 Brigade No.280 58th Regt, to S Africa 26 Feb 1879 to 6 July 1881, served Zulu War and first Boer War, papers state Gunshot wound to chest [presume in the 1st Boer War] to Netley and Discharge 9 Aug 1881. His papers state throughout four or five times in bold ink stamp deceased but no mention of date. I cannot find any death date until 1 May 1943 address 6 Alexander Rd Wellingborough from his probate to his widow Florence. He Married Florence Maycock in Wellingborough 1902. | Private 29B/280 Henry Edward RIXON was dangerously wounded at Laing's Nek, 28 January 1881. Gunshot to chest. His case is discussed on page 28 of Dugald Blair Brown's 'Surgical Experiences in the Zulu and Transvaal Wars'. Regards, Lee |
