The Death of Michael Barthorp

I have belatedly read of the death of the author Major Michael Barthorp. In our field his best remembered work is his The Zulu War: A Pictorial History.

My late friend Kenneth Griffith had a term to describe such a loss in the Victorian Wars community: There’s another redcoat on the floor.

That pretty much says it all John. Interestingly I was looking at my well thumbed version yesterday looking for a particular drawing.

As I mentioned on another thread, when I was 13ish, I used my Christmas money to get two books - The Silver Wreath being one and the other was A Pictorial History...... by MB.

Along with Michael Caine, Michael Barthorp is probably as much to blame for my stupid questions on this forum.
